Norbert Jakubke

Strata Council 2020/2021

My wife, Ilona and I have lived at Creekside since 2016 in suite 1204. I retired 7 years ago from running a successful marketing and design consultancy I founded and ran for over 16 years. I’ve lived in Vancouver for most of my life.

I have a degree in Graphic and Communications Arts from Douglas College. I currently consult to a variety of businesses, including not-for-profit organizations in the areas of envisioning, branding and strategic marketing. I mentor students through the BCIT Student Entrepreneurship Mentorship program. My wife and I host an online cooking class for fundraising and a way for to people to get together during Covid. I am a Westcoast Native Carver and furniture maker. My wife and I are avid gardeners and we love to travel.

I’ve served on other strata councils in the past 10 years. This has been my first year at Creekside. I have found the strata team of Rob, Mike, David, Stephany, Andrew and Jordan to be one of the most proactive and exceptional groups I have worked with. From a foundation of common values that include transparency, respect, thoughtfulness, empathy and fiscal responsibility, I have found that every issue the team has had to face, we’ve dealt with in a proactive way that is always in the best interest of its owners.

I am a member of the Creekside Beautification Committee where I helped to prepare plans for the Social Room and Lobby. I have improved the look of our public notices, announcements and website. My wife and I have worked in the past year with our new landscape contractor to assure that the property has been brought back to a high level of care.

I am proud to have served on this year’s strata council and would be honored to continue working on behalf of the owners to keep Creekside the best place to live.

Stephanie Benedict

My partner George and I moved to Creekside last spring and have loved living here with our Dachshund Frankie. We love travel, food, and being outdoors when our busy careers permit. I’m an associate at a boutique corporate law firm here in Vancouver focusing my solicitor’s practice on high growth companies.

I joined strata council last year because I believe strongly that a strata council should be accessible, intelligible, clear, and predictable in its decisions and actions. While our responsibility is to manage and

maintain the building for the benefit of all owners, I think this should be done with a view to keeping the building a safe, respectful, and inclusive space for all residents.

I believe diversity is a benefit to our strata corporation and hope to continue to contribute my unique point of view for another year.
